Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycles

Popular methods of transport have altered in recent times. Cars have long been the most likely mode of transport in developed countries, however bikes are beginning to rise in popularity. This could be because down to the prices of gas and running a car, or perhaps people are deciding to care more for the planet. Either way you will now find the roads filled with more cyclists than ever before. Maybe you have been pondering purchasing a bike? Here are some hints to help you choose the cycling bicycle that is right for you.

The first thing you should think about, which is pretty obvious, needs to be the cost. Of course you are going to need to think about how much you will ride your bike as well as where you are going to be riding it, but cost is one of the most important things.

The price ranges of good bikes go anywhere from the hundreds to the thousands. This doesn't mean you are going to have to spend thousands of dollars on a good bike, because there are ways you can find a great bike for a great price. Used bicycles and bicycles being sold at auction are great ways to save money while still getting the cycling bicycle that you need and want. Your bicycle seat should not be at the lowest setting, which is sitting atop the crossbar. You want to adjust it up a few inches and take those inches into account when you are choosing your bike. Adjusting your seat up a few inches will give you more clearance between you and the crossbar of your bicycle, which can add quite a bit of comfort to your ride. You want to be able to sit on the bike and place your foot on the pedal at the lowest position, and almost be able to fully extend your leg.

It is important that you allow adequate room between you and the crossbar. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. Sit on it and make sure you can rest your feet flat to the ground. You will want to leave different clearance lengths depending on the type of bicycle you are buying. For example a touring bike will require around an inch. For mountain bikes you will require somewhere around 3 inches. You need to consider several things when choosing your bicycle for the first time. Do you want to ride your bicycle every day or do you see yourself only riding it once in a while? What seat height gives you the most comfortable ride? Would you rather have room between your feet and the ground or would you rather be able to touch the ground see this with your feet when you come to a stop? Think about all this when buying your bike, and you will make the right choice.
